『ケルプ博士の奇妙な発明』シリーズ
【ケルプ博士】 Dr. Kelp 1819 - 1901
19世紀のロンドンを中心に活躍した発明家。主に魚介類を用いた発明で知られる。産業革命後の大量生産による粗悪な製品の氾濫を憂い、よりよい道具による人々の日常生活の向上、真に豊かな生活を
目指し、数々の発明を発表する。しかしながら、これらの発明品の多くは今日残されておらず、また、博士の実態も現在では、そのほとんどが謎のままとなっている。
Dr. Kelp was an inventor who flourished mainly in London of the
19th century, well-known for his products of fish and shellfish. He was anxious
about a flood of goods of poor quality brought by the mass production after the
Industrial Revolution.Aiming to improve the quality of life with better tools,
to enrich it truly, he announced a lot of inventions. However, few of them
survive today, and the most part of his life still remains a
mystery.
【観賞用ワカメ】 “The
Admiration Seaweed”
海藻をこよなく愛した博士ならではの発明。産業社会の到来によって人々にもたらされた多くのストレスの解消を目的に開発された。ただ、ワカメを眺めるにすぎないものであるが、不思議と癒し効果を発揮。海底を散歩しているかのような夢想に浸ることができる。別に『観賞用コンブ』もある。
